ancient-romana is indeed selling very costly fakes to uninformed eBayers. The difference is he offers a full refund policy if any of his items are definitively determined to be genuine. No other crooks do that.

Rather amazing he hasn't   more negative feedback. This only confirms my belief that the average buyer of "antiquities" on eBay knows zilch about the subject!

I see he writes such as:
We are really sorry for the inconvenience caused. We have been selling since years on ebay and this is the first time we got this feedbacks from you so its hard for me to believe.... can you send me the test results and also you could ask for refund or to solve any issue you had instead of giving negative feedback... I even asked for his satisfaction before he left any feedback but heard nothing.

I do not believe them! They are con men and cheats.

The maker of this fake has found the original to copy from online at the British Museum in London UK .
This seller pushes out many very expensive badly made copies of things in various museums.
Has 100% positive feedback of course"
Dr Bron has shown many on his website in the fakes sections.

This message above was reported to Admin on March 20th by a member of this forum.
We don't know why the comments were done in this way rather than simply replying to the message.

They left the following message:

I bought this product and after seeing this post i had got a mini heart attack so i was about to make a problem for the seller but i wanted to make sure so i tested the item and it turned out ancient. So how can he say its a fake? This distracts us.

Indeed it no longer appears for sale by this seller on eBay.

We emailed this member several times asking to confirm that that is what they meant and to let us know what "tests" " they have used to persuade them that it is authentically ancient

We received no reply.

We note that the IP address for this member is Abu Dhabi.
We note that the seller ancient.romana says on eBay that they ship from Dubai.
We note that these two centres in the United Arab Emirates are very near each other.

You previously said that you bought that plaque with the archers on it and had it "tested" which
showed it was genuine.

I cannot undestand that.

Can you please let us have information about this "testing".

This  crooked seller, Mr Mir, should be promoted to nearer the top of the worst list. His fakes vary in quite a lot: some well made so me pretty badly made. He is taking a lot of gulible people to the cleaners as they say. For the last thing shown below: it is copied from a n artifact in the British Museum in London. https://www.britishmuseum.org/collection/object/W_1848-1104-3

This crook seller of fakes offers increasingly absurd things! Such as never found in antiquity.
Also he (Mr Mujtaba Mir) knows very little about ancient artefacts despite what some of his duped clients think!

Bactrian style figure  he calls Sumerian!

Figures standing on square shaped fake tablets... never seen in antiquity.

Two bronze Osiris figurines ...from the  same fake factory! Very obviously so!

"Round ball shaped tablet" ???? No, not a tablet, it's a fake bulla.

Many if not most sellers of fake antiquities know nothing about the subject.

ebay is the perfect platform for scammers & shysters like this fiend to rip people off and get away with it. No laws broken anywhere apparently. ebay certainly couldn't care less unless you complain. Then all that happens is you get your money back. Good for you but bad for the rest of the gullible buying public.

Take a peek at categories such as ancient terracotta idols/figurines and feast your eyes on another mother lode of conniving bullcrap. Scrolled through mucho pages without finding a single unequivocally genuine artifact. All bullcrap. All covered by ebays money back guarantee. Big deal.

Just my two cents - Gaius

I dont Agree. Many items we bought from this seller are genuine. Me and my few friends bought several pcs and checked them, they all were to be true. Yes maybe some small cheap pcs (might be) reproduction, but if you see thats the case with every seller or auction house out there, this seller is different from otger ebay sellers. p.s the islamic/middle eastern items he has are amazing and rare (old).
Joe Franklin,

Amazing & rare what? Reproductions? Absolutely. Rare reproductions? Absolutely not. Wait a while and see similar if not identical "one of a kind" offerings from other sources. Problem is, this phony stuff is rarely labeled as such. And dealers have a habit of mixing in these museum gift shop finds with genuine stuff to disorient, confuse, obfuscate and ultimately pick the pocket of the unwary.

Just my two cents,

Gaius

This seller who is Mir Jan Mir Agha also known by his customers as Mr Mir writes:
"We provide the best and finest near eastern/ middle eastern Art on Ebay. +30 years experience in fine arts. Ancient Romana Gallery."

If after 30 plus years in the business he can't properly identify and describe an ancient artefact or can't tell fake from genuine, then he is either a grossly  incompetent seller or a crook! Make your choice.

The member Joe who has written above says  "maybe some small cheap pcs (might be) reproduction, but if you see thats the case with every seller or auction house out there,"

No! I am not accepting this! Some of the most expensive pieces sold by this man are well made fakes. There are more fakes for sale there than possibly genuine. Any real  antiquities dealer or auction house who sold this proportion of fakes would go out of business quickly. But on eBay, with so many gullible and poorly informed buyers, crooks like this man can get away with it. Well, yes get away with it until someone does something about this. Sooner or later, just like Mr Sadigh, the police will come calling.

Jerry.

I'm always highly suspicious when a supposed collector comes onto the forum to defend an obvious and blatant seller  of fakes like this man in Dubai. I was suspicious of the member Mujtaba as well: he said he bought something from this guy and had it "tested" and it was genuine. But he never responded to requests for details about this. Hmmmm? Makes one suspicious indeed.

Everything has to be genuine because his web site features a You Tube video of his recent grave robbing trip to Iraq. Shows him hightailing it over the border with Nebuchadnezzar's stuff, hot lead flying from AK-47's the whole while.
