Wow, I wish I only knew about this site. I got almost $3K worth of stuff. And got suspicious when he started selling many zebu bulls saying they were form Indus valley harrapan era. I guess what these would be fake. As he had over 30+ listed in a span of 1 month. He still have a few listed currently. When asked his response was wired and focused on the fact that he knew more than me and that he did not have time to answer question so he said it is a registered Canadian collection. I have a question for you all.
Are all his Indus valley items pottery and figurines fake?
Are all his pottery fake, including greek pottery and parthian.
Any help appreciated. Can post pictures if needed. Thanks.

Jerry F

Hi,

What a cynical, unpleasant crook Mike Davies is! I really wish some duped buyer would talke some action against him!
Why don't you?  He stole $3K from you!

"he said it is a registered Canadian collection"
Registered? With whom? Utter nonsense!

Are all his Indus valley items pottery and figurines fake?
Actually, its possible that some of the Indus bull figurines are genuine!
However the vast majority of the other Indus figurines are definitely fakes.

Are all his pottery fake, including greek pottery and parthian.
Yes, all of it, fake, fake, fake!

Do let us know if you takke some serious action against him.

Jerry,

One of the premier problems with ebay and similar online vendors is how easily crooks like Mr. Davies can continue to rip people off ad infinitum with absolutely no meaningful recourse. BFD Ebay gives you your money back! Sells it to the next benighted dupe. If you're in the UK too suggest determining if some civil action can be initiated to hold this unconscionable fiend accountable. In the USA the monetary amount alone would get the crook in court.

Spotfake

I do want to take action and will. But before that I need to have evidence that they are fake. The only ones I know right now that it could be the possibility are the zebu bulls due to the number itself. The rest I am not sure.
Trying to figure how to post pictures here .. thanks for your help in advance.

Hi Sujit
,
Yes, upload the photos and you wil get some comments/opinions.
See image below...

Spotfake

Right now I will add these two to start. Will add more soon. Are these real or fake. Both were indicated as from Indus valley harrapan era 2500bce.
Thanks.

There's fakes and then there's damn fakes. Guess which?! Davies seems to use the same fabricator as those ripoff artists in Cyprus & Thailand. Nothing they sell is real - excluding of course the standard obfuscations inserted as decoys. Ask him where in the Indian Subcontinent, as an example, he illegally exported these from. Any paper trail for any of this junk? Of course not. He would have paid dearly for all the museum pieces he posts. Wouldn't be seeing them at such bargain basement prices. Exasperating to see crooks like him get away with thievery ad nauseum without seemingly breaking civil and/or criminal laws. The international online venues they use evidently provides a loophole for malfeasance.

Hello  Sujit,

The plain Indus Zebu figurine might be genuine. It's really very very difficult to tell from only photos uless the thing is very obviously wrong.

The other thing is not Indus Valley at all!
It is sort of copying this Cypriot piece :
https://www.metmuseum.org/art/collection/search/240388
But I can't say whether it is a fake or genuine. The fact that the horns are preserved is against it being genuine, unless they are obviously repaired.

Kelly and others thanks for the information. I realized the other may not be indus valley but the detail made it stand out. Hence difficult to say if it is fake or not. The zebu bull I got three. Will oist those as well.
Here are more that I got. Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hello again,

I am unable to comment on the supposed Pre-Columbian piece as that's way outside my expertise.
The other dreadful things are fakes: no doubt in my mind at all.

I think you are going to need more opinions before you deman d a refund.

Allow me to wax repetitious by pointing out ALL his terracotta/plastic arts offerings are phony. More business savvy crooks in the UK would at least try to coordinate their postings around Cypriot & Thai merchants so everyone's not offering identical (or nearly identical) reproductions around the same time. But of course they don't. Suggest taking note of Mr. Davie's prices & wait a bit to possibly get the same thing cheaper elsewhere.
